FogLine - Lulu Interlude

This virtual set project was part of the San Francisco Opera "Femmes Fatales Festival" production of Lulu.
Alban Berg's opera was first performed in 1937. In a revolutionary use of multimedia, a silent film interlude was written into the score. This moves the plot forward quickly without expensive live set changes. It also gives the performer of the title role a much deserved rest. The film is projected during the opera with a 90-piece live orchestra, there is no sound on the film. FogLine created the virtual sets in 3ds Max. The live action was shot in widescreen digital video and transferred to 35mm film.
